I love letterpress. It’s that simple. I’ve always loved it, but knew I had to have it as I sat with the likes of Alice Park, Tamara Lackey, Lisa MacKenzie, Heather Thorne, and Sara Harris at a Vegas restaurant tucked away in the MGM Grand. We were enjoying a last lunch, wrapping up another successful WPPI, when I got my hands on one. And then another.
Alice Park and the business cards she had made both for NAPCP and her own photography business had me at hello. Then, just a few months later, Alice further enabled the new found addiction by giving me a gift certificate to Studio-Z, a letterpress printing company in Mendocino, for my birthday. How thoughtful is that? So, being the good friend that I am, I used it. And will never look back.
I always highly recommend letterpress marketing pieces to my branding clients. At the very least, for their business cards. They’ve worked hard to set their pricing higher and invest in their branding to set themselves apart from their competition. A thick, sturdy, wonderfully impressed card showing off the branding you just invested in is the first impression a client will have. The feel of the card is instant luxury. You just know it was more expensive. It’s all part of being the brand you want to portray to your clients. Carrying it through beginning to end.
Amanda K and I had this same conversation as we wrapped up her branding. After evaluating the cost, and researching some companies, she finally bit the bullet. And once she received her cards in the mail, I received this email from her:

The letterpress company Amanda went through, A Fine Press, also loved her cards as much as she did. They featured her on their blog, and together they have plans to print her full stationery set later this year! They also sent me some photos they took of her cards:

And while we’re on the topic of Amanda’s beautiful branding, I also ordered a sample of the CD case I designed for her. I didn’t have high expectations for the actual product, but I will say that WHCC produces beautiful CD Cases! I even ordered one for myself that I’ll share tomorrow.
It’s just another day in branding design paradise! Happy Wednesday!

i absolutely ADORE Amanda’s design and wish it was mine ; ) beautiful!
