In the fall of 2009, Ben Edwards and I taught an introductory photography class at Kilns College here in Bend. Just a few months ago, one of the students from that class asked me to talk to moms about tips on photographing their kids at the River Rim Coffee House, the coffee shop she owns with her husband and her in-laws. Shortly after my talk, Alissa asked me to photograph her daughter before she got too much bigger. Hazel was 10 months old, and she wanted to make sure to capture that fleeting, curious baby stage before it was gone forever. I was more than happy to oblige.
We met by the river on what promised to be a warm spring day. And it was. But as evening hit, the temperature plummeted quickly. We did what we could, and Hazel was a trooper. Here are some favorites from our time together. Happy Wednesday!
