A Wedding in the Woods: Oregon Wedding Photographer

A few weeks ago, Josh and I made the 4 1/2 hour drive east to his home town of Baker City.  And the next day, we drove into the woods 15 minutes outside of his home town to watch his brother get married.  Jared and his bride said “I do” beneath towering ponderosa pines, as the birds chirped overhead and the creek flowed just a few feet away.  It was beautifully casual.  Strikingly simple.  And perfectly them.

After the ceremony, Jared led his new bride down the path to a meadow with his lime green kicks, stopping briefly to catch a well-wishing frog that crossed our path.  And then stopping again to make a few wishes on some awaiting dandelion spores.  And on the way back, as they prepared to leave for their reception, Jared took off his shoes, rolled up his pant legs, and carried Aimee across the creek – a new twist on the traditional threshold.

Jared is the proud owner of Flagstaff Sports on Main Street in downtown Baker – a shop that specializes in snowboarding, skiing, and other sporting equipment including bikes.  So it was perfectly fitting that the newest Mr. and Mrs. Johnson rode up to their reception on an orange vintage tandem bike.  The same bike that my in-laws took their own spin on later that night.  And when they were done, Josh and I stole it.

Three of the five Johnson boys are now married.  And they’re three for three on brunettes.  We’ll see what happens with the other two.  And David, I don’t care what you tell the others.  I’ll always be the original favorite daughter-in-law.

Happy Wednesday, friends!
