A month or two ago, we began noticing a trend. Clients come to our site, love everything they see, hire us… then expect to see a perfectly developed logo in the very first round of proofs. We do work miracles, but rarely that quickly. While we love the confidence you have in us, we also want you to keepin mind that creating a brand new logo is an involved, multi-step process. To help with this trend, we decided it might be easier if the logo designprocess was streamlined a bit more so you know what to expect when. That’s when we came up with The 4-Step Logo™:
Step 1: Strictly Typography – exploring colors, fonts, and arrangement
Step 2: Adding the Whimsy – building a mark or adding a border
Step 3: Revisions on Steps 1 and 2
Step 4: Final Polishing – last revisions leaving a brand new sparkly logo
I can usually tell immediately if a client is going to be a dream to work with based on the inspiration board they include with their design questionnaire, and Jaimee Morse fit perfectly into that pretty, happy mold. She came to us looking to rebrand her photography company to encompass all things Maine (where she was relocating with her husband), and she was our first client to use the new 4-Step Logo process. It worked like a charm! Here’s her branding board showing her gorgeous inspiration and her new final brand:

We’re still working on her stationery suite, that will pull everything together beautifully. Happy Wednesday!

I just squealed when I came to your blog and saw this post. You did such an amazing job and I feel privileged to be the first one to see your 4 step process.
This is Jaimee’s husband and I just want to say that Jane Johnson rocks! If you are looking for a classy logo that will define your company, I definitely recommend Jane and her excellent, stream-lined “4 step process” of branding. Thank You Jane for helping my wife re-brand her company for our cross country move to Maine. In Christ, David&Jaimee Morse
