We have a Kihei Hawaii family portrait mini session to share with you this weekend!
James and Jamie live up the street from us, and the four of us became fast friends. We both moved from the Pacific Northwest for a more tropical climate. And since we met, we’ve adventured together. We’ve explored the Iao Valley where we picked fresh guava off the trees and went for a swim in the river of the same name. We’ve analyzed personalities over shared bottles of wine. We’ve laughed until we cried. And we’ve cooked delicious courses for each other (with a handful of other neighbors) for Foodie Friday. (I made a delicious creamy maple bacon pumpkin risotto. She made an incredible three layer chocolate mousse cake.) They pretty much make the perfect neighbors. Also, they have the most photogenic family. Which makes for ideal portraits.
Last weekend, we wandered down to the beach at the end of our street for a mini session right before sunset to grab some quick family portraits for them. The light was soft. The ocean was calm. The temperature was perfect. And the kids were amazing. I just love how the photographs turned out.
We have been incredibly blessed with community since we moved here. Friends practically fell into our laps the second Josh and I arrived. I know that moving can be stressful and lonely. Establishing new friendships can take a long time. I’m so thankful that we haven’t had to work to find friends. I do believe that moving to Maui is one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.
